About the project
Written and directed by Gabriel Sandu, ENMITY v2.0 is an interdisciplinary production about the need for intimacy and belonging, and the desire to control the story about ourselves that we pass on to others. Three contradictory characters are bound together by a traumatic past.
Alina, an ambitious young documentary filmmaker who will cross any boundary for her film, finds an unmissable subject when she meets Ioana, a former collaborator with the Securitate. Ioana calmly makes extraordinary statements on camera. Her grandson Andrei, an old child with considerable artistic talent, lives in complete isolation alongside his grandmother.
Things take an unexpected turn when the film gains widespread visibility, changing all three lives for good. Through a strong video component, the production questions the boundary between truth and fiction in documentary, exploring what happens to individuals when complicated stories are presented to the public in simplified or manipulative ways.
