About the project
Sirens on the Dâmbovița (Sirene pe Dâmbovița) brings together memories and dreams, making the river a living witness to the city's stories. Theatre, live music, video mapping and choreographed kayaks carry four intimate accounts of people's relationships with water: a captain and a young woman share their fear of drowning; a teenager returns to the Dâmbovița to mourn his grandmother; a woman recalls the island of her childhood; and an urban mermaid searches for freedom and authenticity.
Part of the RÂURI project, the production reclaims the Dâmbovița as a public and cultural space, inviting audiences to reconnect with the river's memories, stories and future.
