LUX is a performance that deals with the concept of loss in different forms. The loss of innocence, the loss of a friendship, the loss of a loved one – loss on a symbolic level and loss on a concrete level. Integrating four distinct stories, united by a desire to bring a change for the better in the world, the show starts from a documentation of everyday events and proposes an original performative exploration of the effects they have on the individual.
Reviews:
The show presents a well-crafted and thought-out story as a whole, based on the natural interplay that unfolds between characters and their situations. Gabriel Sandu’s speech is profound, in which different aspects intertwine and constitute a starting point for broader discussions about the current circumstances in which we, as individuals and members of a community, function, and the consequences that the past can leave upon us, constantly and willingly or unwillingly, both at an individual and collective level. By tracing the emotional path that some of the most recent highly impactful events have on people and the way our psyche chooses to manage their effects, Lux manages to contain a duality assembled from the tumultuous burden carried by the past and the encouraging yet variable commitment of the future.
