About the project
How does a psychological diagnosis become a label used everywhere? Guide Me (Îndrumă-mă) follows the idea of narcissism through contemporary culture, drawing on research into pop psychology and the differences between psychological and sociological perspectives. Documentary material meets fiction in a story that brings YouTube personality Richard Grannon to a gathering of a family obsessed with achievement. His intervention has disastrous consequences.
Visitors enter a dimly lit labyrinth with several exits, choosing their own route among videos, texts and performers. Real accounts of relationships with narcissistic partners, parents and bosses raise questions about lived experience, interpretation and the desire for guidance. During live performances, a therapist played by Andreea Găzdaru may receive one question from each visitor and decide whether to answer.
Deliberately approachable and without moralising, the installation explores how a specialist term acquires new meanings in public life. The freedom to choose a path through the work becomes part of that inquiry. The project completes the artistic research Gabriel Sandu began in 2022 with EGO TRIP, also presented at /SAC.
